10/5/2011 What I did today: Consumable

Today I created a health Pickup, I made a shape using the extude tool, a lot like a cross in 3D. I then scaled the edges to give it some definition, and the scaled some of the edges to make the shape have a flat base. I then bevled some of the edges to make it look a bit less like a box.

I then duplicated the same shape, and scaled it down. I then placed this shape on top of the main one. I then deleted faces that you couldn't see, so I would have more triangles for more detail.

After I had the shapes in place, I created some shaders for base colours on my model. I created a phong green, for a plastic effect, and a blinn for a shiny effect.

I then created a UV map, using the Automatic mapping tool, I chose this, because my model was made up of simple shapes, so having an automatic map would save time. After mapping my model, I set up a PSD network.
Within Photoshop I placed, a green background to simulate a green plastic effect, I then added a light, blue/green colour onto some of the faces on my model, I then made this shader glow, to create a cool effect.
